Nature connection & wellness in the High Coast

Let me share something special about our UNESCO World Heritage site that goes beyond its stunning views. Here in the High Coast, where land has been rising from the sea for 10,000 years, you'll discover a natural sanctuary for wellness and modern wellbeing.

What makes exercising here special is our setting. Imagine doing your morning stretches with panoramic views of the archipelago and our forests, or completing your run as the sun paints the sky in golden hues. Our natural terrain offers varied challenges for all fitness levels.

In today's fast-paced world, we all need a digital detox - a chance to disconnect from screens and reconnect with ourselves. Our ancient landscape, shaped by ice ages and continuing to rise 8mm each year, provides the perfect setting to practice mindfulness, deep breathing, and natural meditation. Many guests tell me they find more clarity here in a few days than months of city life.

Nature offers the simplest path to wellness. Walk barefoot on our ancient granite, breathe in the pine-scented air, and let the rhythm of the Baltic waves guide you to a deeper sense of peace.

Training with a View

Our landscape offers a spectacular natural gym that transforms both body and mind. Start your day with:

  • Morning stretches with sea view

  • Coastal path runs

  • Sunrise yoga facing the Baltic

  • Natural terrain training

Grounding: Ancient Earth Energy

The High Coast outdoors offer perfect spots for grounding - a practice of connecting directly with the Earth's natural energy.

Some of my favorite locations include:

  • Rocky beaches shaped by millennia of land uplift (i.e. at the rocky cliff of Rotsidan)

  • Ancient granite surfaces in Skuleskogen National Park (i.e. at the summit of Slåttsalsberget)

  • Pristine sandy shores along our 80km coastline (i.e. at Storsand, Norrfallsviken)

  • Hidden spots perfect for morning meditation (i.e. at Per Olsbo shelter, near Docksta or at some of the Arknad wind shelters)

Skogspaus: The Art of Forest Pause on hammocks

Experience our unique Nordic practice of forest bathing. At the marina, we offer rental hammock kits for:

  • Peaceful moments among ancient trees

  • Mindful breathing sessions

  • Nature meditation spots

  • Afternoon breaks with panoramic views

Moving in Nature: The "Docksta Way"

Our natural terrain creates the perfect outdoor gym:

  • Morning yoga facing the summer sunrise

  • Trail running through ancient pine forests

  • Outdoor training in pristine nature

  • Swimming in crystal-clear waters of lakes and seashores

  • Mountain training on Skuleberget's segments or climbing at Via Ferrata

  • Cycling, kayaking, our sup paddling along scenic coastal routes and across the wide archipelago of islands and fjords.

  • Seasonal Wellness

Each season offers unique experiences:

  • Summer: Midnight sun meditation and evening swims

  • Spring: Forest trail running and wildflower walks

  • Autumn: Mountain hiking and forest bathing

  • Winter: Crisp morning exercises under clear skies

  • Safety and Respect

  • Stay hydrated (always bring water and snacks)

  • Respect wildlife: flora, fauna, and… rocks!

  • Follow marked paths

  • Dress for changing weather

Whether you're seeking solitude or a guided experience, our ice-carved mountains and ancient forests provide the perfect setting for your wellness journey. I've seen countless guests transform their holiday into a meaningful connection with nature, returning home refreshed and renewed.
